Series 8: Padmasana and the Chakras
October 7, 14, 21
As you fold your legs into Lotus, unfold the petals of these metaphorical flowers located at each chakra.
Explore how balancing the root and sacral chakras can help you develop a suppleness in the hips that fosters graceful and secure movement through the legs, as well as the foundational stability and ease essential for seated pranayama and meditation practices. By grounding your seat, free the spine—and the central channel for the flow of life force— to lengthen and align. Track up through the remaining chakras to support your will, emotions, expression, and intuition, all under the guide of the umbrella of consciousness at the thousand-petaled lotus in the crown.
Develop this foundation now to prepare for my upcoming series this winter, which address specific pranayama practices to balance the nadis and chakras.

Nadi Shodhanna, or alternate nostril breathing, is a challenging and rewarding practice that balances the nervous system and cleanses the energetic channels of the subtle body. This brings deep quiet to the mind, exposing the witness within, strengthening you for the many unpredictabilies in the world without, and opening you to see the patterns that lie beyond these supposed dualities.
This series will ease you into the practice of nadi shodhanna, which you will first experience reclining as a visualization. Learn different ways to sit and use props for adequate support so you can enjoy being upright with less effort.
